Nepal is a small country but considerably famous for its mountains. Various Mountains in the Himalayan region have made it famous across the world and fascinating thousands of tourists every year. Among various tourists attractions in Nepal,  Solukhumbu is the Himalayan district located at the east side of Nepal which is also known as the district of the tallest mountain in the world. Mount Everest which is referred as ‘Sagarmatha’ in Nepali and has successfully been fascinating the largest number of tourists in Nepal.

On the Southern part of the Mount Everest in Solukhumbu district, there is a hill named ‘Pikey’. The altitude of Pikey peak is 4,065 m and it is also one of the best destination for trekking and mountain biking. Pikey peak trekking is also called Lower Solu Trekking. Pikey peak trekking is known for the best hilltop point for viewing the panorama of the Mount Everest. It offers a view of Nepal’s eight thousanders (Mountains above the height of 8000 m) from one place including Mount Everest. Pikey peak can be viewed from Tapting, Gorakhani, Goli, Pattale and other neighbouring villages. It nearly takes about one day to reach Pikey pinnacle from Bulbule.

There are few lodges and restaurants at the top of Pikey. Tungna baje is quite well-known there for playing tungna and entertaining his guest. More accommodations are in method of constructing at Pikey. Local Sherpa people go for short hiking trips and hang the prayer flag lungdar) at the pinnacle. Local says that the Pikey top used to be divided into two heads and they had been referred as Chyawa Pikey and Goley Pikey. The title of Gorakhani’s monastery Urgencholing Gumba is established on the base of Pikey.

Pikey peak is a holy hill. It is believed that there used to be a monk in the ancient time that used to fly on a flat stone and lived with his spouse in a cave. The cave is nevertheless there and previously we were permitted to go inside the cave but now we can only worship it from outside. It is also believed by the local people that there is a mysterious God named Lhachen Karbo. During the month of July, Local people celebrate the festival to worship their clan God, the eastern Chyabo Pikey, as Pikey Hlapchen Karbu.

If the visitors are not habitual of living in cold climate then they should avoid going on a trek at Pikey during winter season. The first-rate time to visit Pikey is throughout the month of October or March. Pikey peak is must to visit once in a lifetime to experience the view of eight-thousanders mountains together with Mount Everest. According to the people who have been to Pikey, says that the view of Mount Everest from Pikey pinnacle is one of the best in Nepal.
